Terms, Payments and Refunds

These terms apply to coaching sessions booked with me, to the student handbook, and to this website. Coaching is provided by Arjun Kalyan, No. 41, Kasi Estate, Jaffarkhanpet, Chennai 600083, Tamil Nadu, India. Email arjunkalyan555@gmail.com.

Coaching sessions

  • Sessions are one-to-one and online, on Zoom. The link is sent with your booking confirmation.
  • Prices for clients outside India are shown in US dollars on the booking page, and Wise shows the amount in your currency before you pay. For clients in India, I confirm the full amount in rupees, including any taxes, before you pay.
  • Sessions are paid in advance: a single session before it takes place, a package before the first session of the package.
  • I will always give honest, careful work, but I can't promise a particular rating, title or result. That depends on many things, most of all the work you do between classes.

Rescheduling, cancellations and refunds

  • You can reschedule or cancel a session free of charge with at least 24 hours' notice. A single session cancelled in time is refunded in full, or moved to a new time if you prefer.
  • A session cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice, or missed without notice, counts as used. In a genuine emergency, tell me and I will try to find another time.
  • If I have to cancel a session, you choose: a new time or a full refund for that session.
  • Unused sessions in a package can be refunded on request, at the package's price per session (the package price divided by the number of sessions in it), minus any transfer fees charged by the payment provider.
  • Refunds are paid to the same account or method you paid from, normally within 7 working days of being agreed.

Courses

My video and interactive courses are sold by Chessable and Modern Chess. Buying, access and refunds for those courses are handled by those platforms under their own terms.

The student handbook and materials

The handbook, exercises, files and games I share are for your own study while you are my student. Please don't copy, sell or publish them. Your handbook account may be deactivated when coaching ends.

This website

The writing, analysis and images on this site are mine unless stated otherwise. You are welcome to share links and quote short extracts with credit. Linked sites are run by others and I am not responsible for their content.

Complaints and grievance officer

If something has gone wrong, write to me. I handle complaints myself and act as grievance officer: Arjun Kalyan, arjunkalyan555@gmail.com, No. 41, Kasi Estate, Jaffarkhanpet, Chennai 600083, Tamil Nadu, India. I will acknowledge a complaint within 48 hours and resolve it within one month.

Law

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts in Chennai have jurisdiction. Nothing in them takes away rights you have as a consumer under the law of the country where you live.
